Hydr.cam 151 specs
« on: May 21, 2008, 07:40:10 PM »
Anyone have the definitive specs on this 3863151 cam ex Hi-Po 327 RPO L-79???
Looking for the opening and closing point intake and exhaust valve events..  I have a Chevrolet Power Manual in front of me presently, i.e.  4th Edition Section 2 page 17 and as stated for intakes: 40 degrees  BTC and 100 degrees After Bottom  Center...
Exhaust valve specs are opening 92 degrees BBC opening point and closing point is 48 degrees ATC...
Is this correct or ?????   Thanks!!!  T.

Sorry gennamen, I know it is not a Camaro part but in fact Vette.  I guess by way of explanation it goes like this... I was on the Camaros.net board and the 3863151 number came up... I  was digging in my 4th Edition Chev Power manual at the time and came up with valve event numbers...
Apparently these are in contradiction to a Doc Cobine's research paper off a Vette site... I was just wondering what valve event numbers were / are correct...  I know Mr.JohnZ might be somewhere about, so to speak...   T..

I don't have the detailed event numbers handy for the "151" cam, but it's 221*/221* duration @ .050", .447"/.447" gross lift, 114* LSA, and 110* intake centerline. Very nice streetable cam with a 4-speed, zero-maintenance, still available from GM and from Federal-Mogul/Speed-Pro and Crane. Uses stock 85#/190# valve springs.

Thanks John!!!  I guess discussion was re. how different the valve events' specs were from the "Doc" vis a vis what I had gleaned from the Chevrolet Power Manual...  If yah have a chance on the event specs.  If not I appreciate the response... Knew you were out there!!!  Ted

Hi John...  Hope you don't take this the wrong way, but, numbers look somewhat "skewed"...    T.
