1969 Camaro vanity mirror

I have this mirror on my passenger visor was it a factory option or dealer installed? Thanks

There was a factory mirror option on the passenger visor (only), but that one is not it. It was added after it left the plant

That's not a 69 visor - wrong material. Here's the correct material.

Mirror attachment was not with thru-bolts.

This is a convertible. I just found this in the assembly manual

SS78 has a convertible and yes that is the proper vinyl for the visors in a vert

I have always wondered about that option in the manual, but your mirror look bigger than the picture.  Take the measurements and see if the screws match the measurements in the AIM.

The AIM is wrong with regards to the part number for D34. It should be 3945964 not 3945962.

And yes, that looks like it might be a later version of the mirror. Probably mid to late 1970's or so. The original 1969 version didn't have that lip, nor did it have "Chevrolet" written on it. It was just a flat piece of glass (see below). This mirror was also available as a service item (as well as dealer installed) and was P/N 993723, which changed to P/N 994521 in 1973, and was available until the late 1970's.

Ok thanks for the info guys. So is there screws from the back or just clips to hold the mirror in. What a way to ruin a good conv sunvisor

The 9785408 was a push-on type of connector and the mirror had plastic threaded studs (see below for a picture of the back of the mirror). There's a guy on ebay selling aftermarket nuts, but they appear to be a little too yellow (see bottom picture below). I believe the originals are a little more white in color.

They are like door trim clips, you attach them to the mirror and then press them into the holes in the Masonite board and the little tangs hold them in place.  Got to be careful you don't crack the mirror when your pressing them onto the visor though.  The holes may actually already be there in the Masonite and you just have to find them and cut the vinyl/fabric away.  I put one in my convertible but it was like 30 years ago.  I don't remember having to drill holes in the Masonite board to install it though.

Discontinued April of 1970.

Interesting that it wasn't available on any 68 convertible EXCEPT the Camaro!!
