Is there a difference in the air cleaners for 68 and 69 z28's?

Do the original open element air cleaner bases have a flat bottom to them, or do they have the ridges on the bottom where the filter sits?  Ie, the roiginal cowl induction air cleaner bases are flat and the repops have ridges on this are.  Is it the same for the open element base?

Still wondering if anyone knows the difference between repro and original open-element air cleaner bases.

I have an original open-element '69 base in my collection, and it has a flat base flange.

Thanks again JZ.  I have an open element on my Z.  The lid doesn't have the AC decal on the back side of it, but the base is flat.  I guess the base is original and someone replaced the lid.

68Z -

Have you tried cleaning the underside off?  I didn't think mine was there either until I cleaned 40 years of black soot off.     :)

No, it's not there.  The lid looks like new.  I assume someone replaced it or cleaned it off.  I bought one on E-Pay with the decal.  Now to sell all the things I don't need.
