What's it worth?
« on: March 31, 2008, 10:11:52 AM »
Hello,
I have caught wind of someone has a 69 Camaro that he would like to sell.  It has a V8, 4 barrel, 4 speed manual, and 12 bolt rear.  It is pretty rough.  I believe it is Ralley Green with a black vinyl top.  They guy wants to sell it and get it out of his way.  I know the numbers mean a lot and I cannot get down there to look at it right away.  Whats a good offer?  Interior needs to be redone, most sheet metal needs works and at least one piece of glass.  I hope it ends up being a Z, but need to look at the numbers.  A friend is supposed to go over and check some things out for me.  Where do I start?  Thanks.

Get your friend to get the numbers and post them here.  Price is the hardest thing to figure.  It can be very subjective...  If it is pretty rough, you also need to remember what it costs to bring it up to driver or show --depending on what you want.

Thanks for your reply.  Is the cowl tag the main number I should be looking at or is there more?  My friend said that they were looking for numbers on the transmission, but did not see any...

Depends on how far you want to research, but in buying a car to restore, I'm sure you want to be thorough.

Read through these reports here on CRG:

You might want to buy other resources.  Look here:

Jerry MacNeish and Alan Colvin's books are musts!

Thanks!  :)  I appreciate you taking the time to point these items out.  I have some reading to do.  I'll post back with any further questions or if I get the poor girl.
