Over the counter Z28 intake
« on: May 02, 2008, 08:14:47 PM »
I have an intake that looks just like the 69 Z28 intake.  Instead of the casting # it has the part # 14044836 and a bowtie on the back edge of the carb flange.  Is this an over the counter intake?  I have had a How to Hot Rod a Chevy V8 book since the 70's.  In it, it has the Z28 intake listed as something to use and gives the above part # so I thought that's what this must be.

If it doesn't have an oil fill tube hole and the screw holes for the remote choke thermostat aren't drilled and tapped, that's the over-the-counter GMPP PART number 10185024 intake, which is otherwise a duplicate of the original Z-28/LT-1 intake.

It has the oil fill tube hole, but it has a plug in it and the holes are tapped for the choke coil unit.

Anyone know if this was over the counter or a replacement or what?  I seems to have a date of 11-69.

It's an over-the-counter GMPP replacement - production manifolds didn't have the bowtie.
