1969 SS 350 10 bolt rear end
« on: March 04, 2008, 12:59:12 AM »
Hi guys, Can somebody tell me if any 69 SS camaros came with a 10 bolt rear end. I'm looking to purchase a convertible and this seller says it's a true SS. Everything I've ever read or owned says 12 bolt only in a 350 SS. How about some help on this? Thanks!

If it had a powerglide transmission, then its possible for it to have a 10 bolt axle otherwise it should have a 12 bolt.  Look under the car.  All SS's (except the L78 which won't have a 10 bolt axle) have two fuel lines, a larger 3/8"line and a smaller 5/16" return line.  Of course it should also have power front disc brakes, 5 leaf rear springs, etc.

Hey, thanks for the response. I've already read that info and I was hoping for another clue. I know what to look for as far as the fuel lines and the front disk brakes. It is a 3 speed auto, not a powerglide. I'm going to view it tomorrow, so any more clues you could give me would be appreciated.

Take lots of reference photos, including the trim tag. Post them here for feedback. Happy hunting!

That's a great idea, the more info the better. I don't really want to rush into buying the unknown when I can at least get an educated guess. I'm sure there will still be plenty of surprises. Thanks.

Don't need any pictures. This car was totally misrepresented. When selling an auto or anything for that matter you should know what you are selling to be true and not just what you have been told, especially if you will prosper from that sell. There should be some kind of penalty for this that can stick like glue to the perpetrator. Good people spend time and money running down lies and deceptions while dealers hide under legal mumbo jumbo. I know this is probably more common than not, thank GOD for these sights and forums. These are great looking and performing automobiles, Don't belittle there legacy. Integrity is worth more way after you spend your last buck.
