I have a '67 Camaro RS Convertible. Group 2 on the cowl tag shows the alpha character, "G" and that's it. The car does indeed have a console, but no transmission character. The car originally came with a 327 and according to the second owner, a manual transmission. My understanding is that a 67 with a 327 would have come with a Saginaw 3 or 4 spd, rather than the Muncie, however no code was stamped on the cowl tag. Has anyone seen a cowl tag missing the trans code? Does it mean something by virtue of the trans code being omitted?
The rest of the build plate matches the rest of the car, including the L in Group 3 for RS, the exterior and interior trim colors, top color, etc.
Incidentally, the speedo cable comes out the front near the brake booster and not near the gas pedal /tunnel as with a big-block car. My understanding is the powerglide and Saginaw transmission shared the same speedo cable hole in '67. My understanding is the same hole was cut in the floor regardless of floor-shift transmission type in '67 as well.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance-
Doug
