Well here it is...my new project!!!
« on: December 07, 2007, 07:13:14 AM »
Well getting ready to start the new project.....  It is a 1967 RS convertible. (Factry A/C, Power top) Still in pieces, looking at one year till completition.  The car may look a little rough now but she will shine soon enough.  I just ordered the full floor pan and it should be here on Monday.  I got her out of the shipping container and still going through the parts.  It has new GM quarters, fenders, inner wells, all GM ;D.  The only repro sheet metal will be the full floor pan.   ???

I will post more pics as I move this project along.

Wish me luck, I am going to need it. :)

Do you already have a motor?  What's going in it?

I do! the car came with the 327 4 speed.  I have the engine but it is still in shrink wrap and in my garage.  I was hoping to pull the numbers from it this weekend, if I can find time.  The car will go back as original as possible except for the transmission.   I need to put an automatic in it.  This will be the "go to the beach" car or mostly cruising and not really for going fast.  It was just a plain jane rs, with the hideaway headlights and standard hood with no spoiler.  (I think it looks better with the spoiler, though)

It basically needs everything redone.  The who took it apart did NOT bag and tag everything and ended up getting a divorce, so the pieces are everywhere.

Oh yeah, the original color was butternut yellow with a black top, wasn't a fan of the yellow but I am starting to like it!

oh well!!

Keep it Butternut Yellow! I wasn't a fan at first either, but the color grows on you. I see some blue seats. Was the interior blue? That would be a unique combination of colors.

I am going to keep it the butternut yellow color.  I hope that PPG makes it.  The interior was a custom black. (no headrests, I think).  The seats in the picture are from a donor car.  I will strip the seats and put new foam and put it back to black.  It should accent the car nicely like it was in 67.  I have a lot more pictures but they are of just the parts.  I have a lot of new stuff for it but it is in about 1000 boxes.

I really wasn't a fan of the yellow at first but now I am looking forward to it.

Hey, what can I say... We butternuts have to stick together!

I'm getting my butternut yellow 68 painted and a new vinyl top this winter at a specialty shop owned by the Modern Group --same folks who own Classic Muscle.

Take a look at this thread about vinyl tops:

Yellow with black top and interior is a great look!
