Hood catch bolt type
« on: November 21, 2007, 03:34:20 PM »
I was reading on another board that the hood catch bolt has a cone washer with 6 points. The '69 AIM shows the same bolt (#3846202) for the hood catch and for the inner fender to radiator support. That application does not have any points. Is the AIM wrong?

The 202 bolt was also used for the inner fender-to-fender attachment around the wheel opening, and my untouched originals do NOT have any "points" or serrations on the conical washer. There were about seven different variations of 5/16" captured-washer bolts used on the front sheet metal in various locations, and line repairmen used whatever worked at 57 per hour when one was missing. The AIM is correct.
