help with buildsheet on 67 convert......
« on: September 05, 2007, 11:11:44 PM »
I am looking at purchasing a rs 67 convert.  It is in pieces and will need a major overhaul.  I took apart the reat seat and noticed that there was a "dog tag" metal plate that was hog tied to the seat springs with a bunch of numbers on it.  I know that they had a build sheet either in the cushion or on top of the fuel tank.  Not sure what this may be.  I am new to this forum and have referenced CRG for my 1969 Camaro data and found it to be very helpful.    Any ideas on this one?

That's a interesting one.
It's off a Ford product. The design was done in 64 (C4), but the date looks like 8/25/66. (Just means the part didn't require a redesign.)
Now what it's doing there on the seat, I don't know.....

Very very strange.....Ford.... humm.  I am going to have to look into this a little more.  The car originally came with black custom buckets according to the cowl tag but the seats were blue.  There was also some masking tape with 65 on it on the inside vinyl.  This leads me to believe that the seats may not be correct for the car.  I am going back tomorrow to do some more research on this vechicle before I buy it.  From going over it briefly there is a lot of new sheetmetal and will require lots of work.  I will find out more tomorrow.......  The car is in pieces and there are many new replacement parts still in boxes.  The guy wants 10K for all of it.  I would probably have to sink about another 15k to 20k to do it right (at least).  If I go that route it would be done correctly.  A nice 67 RS convert would be a nice grocery getter though.  Thanks for the help!!
