67 throttle rod bracket @ firewall ( metal to plastic)
« on: November 01, 2008, 04:23:15 AM »
Does anyone know when the 67 throttle rod bracket @ the firewall changed from metal w/bushings to plastic wo/bushings? There is also some info that indicates that there were 2 BB throttle levers used in 67 up to 2-8-67 3879422 and after 2-8-67 3912599. Does anyone know the reason for the change?
Does anyone know the finish on the throttle levers?

Please use 67 AIM 6 D1 for reference.
Note on 1-4-67 of the revision record that 3863501 support (metal), 9419400 screw,3710620 bushings were removed leaving 3924409 support (plastic),9419380 screw.
Please use 68 AIM 6 D1 for reference.
Note3924409 support (plastic),9419380 screw indicating that the plastic support was carried over from model year 67. The torque on 9419380 was increased form 20-30 in. lbs. to 30-40 in. lbs.
Any idea when this revision would have shown up in production?

Update:
In regards to 2 BB throttle levers (use 67 AIM L35 A11 as reference) Item #3 . The change in the revision record 2-8-67 1 may be a change from the SB lever to the BB lever. I do not under stand that being the case as the 396  L35 was new production in 1-?-67 and there would be no need for a revision, unless some of the early production BB had SB levers. A comparison of some of the early and late BB leavers might shed some light on the matter.Someone with a 67 PM might be able to reference the part numbers.     3879422 and 3912599
Kurt,thanks for the info.

Could someone with a very late production date  (at least 5E or later) look and see if their  bracket is plastic or metal? The 67 AIM shows production # 3924409 and 68 AIM shows production # 3924409. Could some one with a 67 & 68 P&A check to see if these production numbers  where carried over to 67 to 68 as service numbers? The 69 P&A shows 3924409 as the service replacement but that would be expected. If 3924409 shows up in the 67 P&A then some of the brackets could have been in late 67 production.
Support is in group 3.452 and lever is in group 3.454 in the 69 P&A, could be different in the 67,68 P&A.

Just thought I would run this by the members again. ???

Rat Pack, thanks for the info. on the finish of the levers.

Kurts, did you ever post the info. about the AIM procedures?

Hi Bob,

I know this is very old, but did you ever get your answer? I checked my 04B and 05B '67 BB's and both have metal brackets.

For you 1967 Guys, What do the 1/4-14 Screws BITE into on a 1967 L78 Coupe firewall Metal bracket
We are working on a May 1967 L78 Car that was altered in the 1980's and removed an owner installed cable bracket that was not factory (*Below the Factory punched holes?).
We see the Oval hole for the Pedal support and two seemingly Factory punched oversize holes that are WAY to big for the 1/4-14 sheet metal screws 9419380

It also seems the 1967 Support was Zinc Dichro,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hey here we go.

Will add photos

1/4-20 x 3/4" Machine Screw with captive star and large 1/4" nut with flat on interior side.

I tried a search, this might have been posted it you guy find a link to old topic.
