1969 RS convertible disc brake conversion
« on: October 26, 2024, 07:06:25 PM »
Considering a manual drum brake to power disc brake conversion. tending towards just the front but woudl consider front and rear. It seems the RS has an issue with the spindles or something that excludes many of the kits. Any ideas?

On an RS, the actuator mounting bracket and shield had marginal tire clearance in production applications. Particularly on the LH side, was not unusual to see a hole worn through the shield. Some of the aftermarket disc brake kits increase the front track slightly.

The production drum brake steering knuckle has a mounting boss that may need to be trimmed.

Great info thanks. :) Anyone have a suggestion for which supplier has the proper kit for manual drum to power front disc conversions? Presently have changed from stock 14X6 wheels to 15X7 with 215/65 15 tires.
