HOW FAR BACK CAN A DATE CODE GO LOOKING AT A 06A CAR AND IT HAS A VERY EARLY APRIL TRANS DATE I THOUGHT THEY WHERE CLOSER TO THE BUILD OF THE CAR

Assuming you are referring to 69...
Not impossible but certainly not the "norm". I do have several early 06A cars with very early May dated transmissions. Without seeing the stamp or docs its just a guessing game for the most part.

As Darrell said and depending on which trans it had installed at the factory. I would expect an M22 to have a larger date spread than a 20 or 21 due it being a less popular choice car was ordered.
