My old reproduction battery is just about done. I have seen some guys used toppers over newer batteries and had good luck . I want to keep the original look to the battery and I want something reliable. Just wondered what tips you guys might have.

Be sure to get your "topper" & have it in hand to test fit your selected replacement battery. To  be Dang sure you have clearances for it to fit.

I hollowed out my old Delco battery and placed a Braille racing battery inside.  Can't tell once it is installed.  Vintage look and modern reliability.  I have three Braille batteries and all have worked out well.  Hold a charge forever, and take almost no time on the trickle charger.

The repro batteries have the internal battery glued to the case and I find them more annoying than an original.
Lynn’s thread looks like a winner as I’ve gutted several original y55 and r59 battery’s but the repro r59 was a pain lol.

Lynn, that's the set up I currently have , a repo battery, but it only had a 400 cca battery inside (surprised it had enough power to crank it over when it was cold out) but I'm on the fence as I'd like to have a battery with 700 to 800 cca's. Does the Braille battery have enough power. I read the specs and they advertised 550 cca

I got this battery from Autozone and put a topper on it for my 06A 69. Fits perfect. I put some velcro under the topper to hold it on place. The flip up handle on the battery is a nice feature when taking battery out for the winter nap.

I use this battery in both our 427 and mouse Z/28. They have more than 500 cca and not an issue with turning the motors over.

Braille batteries have plenty of oomph to get it done.  My Z cranks faster than it did before.

The Braille batteries are great, but unless you buy the lithium battery which has a five year warranty, the other batteries I believe only have a three year warranty.  I have three cars that I don't drive much and have found that even though I maintain the batteries, they don't seem to last as long as they used to and most manufacturers only have a three year warranty.
