VIN was final assembled on or about October 7, 1968. Car has an 05C X33 body tag; 3rd week of May, 1969.
One or both tags are not original to the car, hidden VINs may not match.

And who's ever heard of dressing an X33 Z28 as an SS?

Original Factory style AC firewall. No one would put in a custom engine and then add factory AC to a non factory AC firewall. Much simpler to add aftermarket.
