Power steering hose Clips.
« on: June 02, 2023, 01:57:22 AM »
Hello all. Been a long time since my last log in. Made some changes in my life and it's time to get back to my car.

I did a redo of the power steering system that was installed on my car when I first acquired it in 1999. Car had a leaking 67 power steering box and pump with 68 z28 pump brackets, crappy hoses and a lot of zip ties. It's all 69 now except for the power steering box, which is a 1980 WS6 TA unit. I need the clips that hold the hoses in check and out of the way. I want to say there are like 3 or 4 different pieces, but I'm really unsure. I have my car with me, but I don't have any of my research and notes where I'm living now so I can start looking for those pieces. Any idea what I would need to look for? Y'alls help, as always, will be appreciated.

Thanks all.
Gary

Hi Gary, the hose clips you're referring to (and hose routing and sleeves) are referenced in the 1969 AIM Page 405, UPC N40 A8, items 4 and 6 on the list. In addition there is a hose bracket not shown that attaches using the lower right steering box cover bolt ("Power Steering Box Bracket" below).

FWIW: I just purchase a Vendor (#6 in AIM), of course it was made of a thinner diameter wire than a GM part. - Figures

Thank you Lloyd.

Is the power steering box bracket the same used on all GM vehicles, or are there differences per model?

The motor mount frame stand looks similar to the bracket on the fender well?

I was looking at the AIM on my tablet last night and saw those sleeves. I didn't realize they were there. Is there a source for all this?

Been checking out sites today to see where I can get everything in one shot. Of course, I want to find original if possible.

Thank you for those links Pete. Curious if these could be sourced locally. $33.09 for a 20" long piece on the Ford site. Wow!! I know the links are from 2016, anyone have any from then I wonder?

A few old threads on the foam sleeves.  I seem to recall that Mustangs may have used a similar foam sleeve that was being reproduced

Found it, no idea it it would fit

I bought a set of power steering foam sleeves from another Mustang parts vendor some time ago, I cut them to length based on a perished original set I had. They fit well and look original.

Interestingly enough, but not surprising 6, small block and big blocks have different clips and clamps. This is 1968.
