Brake Master Cylinder 5452310 Bale Wire

Hi Camaro experts:
I'm trying to determine the correct factory color for the bale wire on a brake master cylinder with casting number 5452310. I believe it was natural finish. I've attached a couple of photos of a master cylinder and bale wire. I'm wondering if the bale wire in the photo is in good shape (acceptable to the judges in competition) or should I try and clean it so it's got a natural finish? Finally, any guidance on the best way to clean it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks for the help. gwp4

Just remove and soak in evaporust, resist the temptation to wire brush, wire wheel , abrasive blast or sand and you should be good to go,
Wire actually looks in good condition

Must've been more than just a natural finish, otherwise it'd be rusty like everything else there. And if no rust, I don't see a need for Evaporust. It may do more harm than good..?

Thinking more about it, it probably is some type of spring stainless steel. Just my guess... I'd probably lightly wipe it down with 0000 steel wool for cleaning, but maybe that's a no-no ? Sorry if I'm creating more confusion.

"The Lid Bail wires are Natural finish."
From the 67/68 Manual (Judging)
They might be a spring steel alloy that resists rusting but not stainless steel.
