Body Mount Components (Treating)
« on: October 20, 2021, 02:59:09 PM »
Looking for suggestions on treatment of subframe body mount components, mainly the bolts and washers to prevent discoloration and particularly rusting. Is there anything readily available on the open market? Thanks.

A buddy of mine has a set of repro body mounts on his 69 SS.  After four years on the car, they are starting to split / dry rot.  Must be that great Taiwan / Chinese rubber.
Not sure if treating them with any rubber protectant will help.

I use Boeshield T9 out of a spray can found online or marine supply stores.  This and other product work great on natural and plated parts.

I use Boeshield as well.  Last a fairly long and protects the surfaces from rust and corrosion.   Once applied and dries, the piece looks clean and natural.

Any major prep work involved or just make sure the parts are clean prior to treating? Thanks.

How to use Boeshield T-9 in general?
For a heavy film; Put on T-9 and leave it on. T-9 will dry into a thick protective layer.
For a thin film; Put on and leave on for at least 2 hours so it can fully penetrate the metal. Afterwards wipe off the excess.
T-9 dries to a waxy waterproof finish without leaving a sticky film to attract dirt.

General cleanliness is beneficial when using this product.
