RS Headlight Washer Solenoid Wiring
« on: August 02, 2021, 04:19:23 AM »
Will someone please look at the attached pictures and tell me if the brown wires from the wiper motor connection to the RS solenoid went over the wiper motor or under it on a Norwood built 69.

Is that date 10E of 68 or 69. Thought the silver tag was not used until after May 1969 and the part number on the front was removed.

The old 04C survivor Black RS Z had a silver label on the wiper motor and the part number on the front cover as well.

My February/March '69 dated tag, original, on my Z11 03D, I think I've got an earlier tagged spare I bought at a local swap meet some years back tucked away in storage. Never seen a 5605 motor without the part number stamped on the end frame. This motor also has the part number ink stamped in yellow on the side of the motor case,

Original dated solenoid coil part number is shown, apparently batch made in groups for the three models that offered the headlight washer system in '69; Corvettes, Caprices and Camaros. Finish on the coil frame is zinc dichromate. Wiring goes underneath the motor.

Refer to the pic for an HOS coil for proper marking and finish.

Regards,
Steve

Are you certain of originality ? I've seen replacement motors marked that way, never an OE. Look at the rivets around the outside base flanges, too - pan headed rivets are a sure sign of replacement. If the dealership rebuilt one, which I have also seen and have one example of, the rivits are drilled out and replaced with machine screws and nuts, there was a service kit designed to use them (as described in the Chassis Service or Overhaul manuals). That was the case with one of my '69's wiper motors -

Steve
