Here is a picture demonstrating that a 1967 Camaro RS/SS convertible Indy Pace Car Festival Car was used in some official capacity at New Paris Motor Speedway in New Paris, Indiana sometime in the days leading up to the 1967 Indianapolis 500 or sometime right after it. I have no information on when it was taken or at what event. All I know is that New Paris Motor Speedway is a small 1/4 mile track originally built in 1948 and that it is located to the south east of South Bend, Indiana. It still exists today but it is now known as New Paris Speedway.
Notice how dirty the car is. The picture seems to show that the track was paved, so perhaps the infield was muddy. We do know that the Indianapolis 500 was started on Tuesday, May 30th but but after only 18 laps, it started raining. This led to a postponement of the race until the next day, Wednesday, May 31st. Perhaps this car got muddy on race day and it wasn't cleaned before appearing here??
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there were only 43 of these Festival Cars.
I found the photo a while ago somewhere on Facebook.
