heater control assembly replacement
« on: September 29, 2020, 03:57:52 PM »
Is it possible to replace the Heater Control Assembly without having to remove the heater box.  I can't seem to get the deproster ductwork out of the way enough to get to the cable connection.  Thanks in advance, Steve.

Heater control assembly?  Are you talking about the set of levers on your dash? OR
Are you talking about something inside the heaterbox?
67-68 have issues with at least one of the levers breaking. You should be able to remove the cables from either end... the heater box or the dash mounted lever set HOWEVER the push on round retainers are a SOB to get off the stud.

I am talking about the lever mechanism, and after further review it does seem that leaving the cables in place and just replacing assembly is the path of least resistance, and I agree, the retainers are a pain to remove.
Thanks for your thoughts
Steve
