Engine Rebuild
« on: February 01, 2021, 04:40:35 PM »
Hey all. I was wondering what the best route would be to take for my engine rebuild. I have my original 350 bare block and I'm going to be getting it machined once I am back from school. I was planning on getting a rotating assembly as I have been told they're the best "Bang for the buck". I am not building this engine to go balls to the walls with at all, I just want to build the engine so it's a good running engine with some balls but nothing insane. Let me know what some of you would think.

IF your car is predominantly *original*, and you like it like that, I'd suggest rebuilding your 350 as it was originally.

OTOH, if it's modified and would like more performance, then one of the '383' stroker kits would probably be a good way to go (and it will still 'appear original' to 99.9% of people from the external view.

A stock 350 is a good running engine when it is tuned well. I see friends spending large bucks on engines just to cruise with. It is your car but sometimes the extra cash can be spent items the car could use..

For my next 350 build, I am going to go with a roller cam, more options available.  It will fit inside my 69 HA block without any modifications (except timing cover).  Factory stamped steel covers flex too much for a cam button to work.  But I have spares that I can strengthen for a cam button.  My .02

I am going to test my skills out on a factory block 400 build 1st :)
