I have a picture of it hanging in my shop from when Al owned it. I met him at Hershey flea market. He was a real gentleman that unfortunately left us too early.

I know it would be my dream car!
Very very rare, very well known, very cool history.
Power widows, four speed, convertible Z28, special order, nice color combinations....the only negative would be that I would be afraid to drive it around!
I would love to see it in person!
Maybe if the muscle car market does go down drastically in the future I could afford it!!

I would not call it a 'special order', as it was NOT available to order.   It was apparently a *special BUILD* by GM for a GM executive or for marketing purposes?  ie.  not really a production car...

Al's story was they were trying to convince Estes to go into production  on the Z-28 instead of just a race car and he only drove convertibles.

Yeah, but it was already *in* production.

The Petersen Automotive Museum Digitization Project recently added some fantastic photos of the 1968 Camaro Z28 convertible on the pace lap of the SCCA Can-Am event held at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on Sunday, September 1, 1968.  Top down in the rain!
