69 Z11 Decode Question
« on: February 29, 2020, 05:34:43 PM »
The cowl tag has some information I can’t seem to find reference to in my research.
On the same line as the production date (03B) and under the paint code (50 A) there is the following:
H478

Can anyone tell me what this means? Unfortunately I don’t have the build sheet or invoice to check for option info.
Thanks

Its a Los Angeles (Van Nuys) factory build number.  VIN should be 124679Lxxxxxx.  Generally means 478th body during the "H" period.

Wow...thanks Kevin that didn’t take long! Yes Vin is a 9L number. I understand Van Nuys only made about 500 Z11s due to a strike so this is a late production car even though it was produced in March.
I’d love to find the invoice and build sheet....any ideas where to go?
Thanks

The strike at Van Nuys was May 28-June 18. All cars on order were eventually built; assembly plants built what was ordered. A March build is not considered late. The last '69s were final-assembled in July.
