Photographic evidence demonstrates that multiple Camaros were used in official capacities during the Players 200 Sports Car Club of America Canadian American Challenge Cup (Can Am) event held at Mosport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, September 23, 1967.  This was the third event in the championship and Denny Hulme won for the third time in a row in his Chevrolet powered McLaren M6A.

This first picture shows a bright red Camaro RS/SS convertible with a white D91 nose stripe, white interior and yellow flags mounted to the rear bumper sitting at the entrance to pit lane.  While it is hard to confirm, this Camaro is most likely a 1968 model because they were introduced to the public a little more than a week before on Friday, September 15, 1967.  The photo was taken during the third of four support races held before the main Can Am event.  It was a 15 lap race that featured Group 7 cars with engines under 2.0 liters.  According to the program of events, it took place at 1:00 pm.  This Camaro was probably used as the pace car for this support event as well as the other three support races.

I found it at the Remembering Mosport Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mosport/media

After the support races were concluded the program of events states that the "Parade of Drivers" for the Can Am event would take place at 2:45pm.  In this parade, the Can Am drivers were chauffeured around the track waiving to the fans from inside brand new 1968 Camaro convertibles.

These three pictures came from the Dave Friedman Collection on Flickr.

The pace car for the Players 200 Can Am event was the "2nd" Chevrolet Dream Car known as the Cherokee Camaro.  This was the third and final time this particular show car was used as a pace car.  It was driven by ex race car driver, Stirling Moss.  Notice the white convertible top is in the up position in the 1st & 2nd photos.  This was probably taken during early morning warm up which occurred at 9:30am.

These photos were taken from footage shown in the DVD entitled, "Can-Am: The Speed Odyssey."

The 3rd/4th show the Cherokee Camaro entering the pit lane prior to the Can Am cars receiving the green flag.  It came from the previously mentioned DVD.

These photos from the Dave Friedman Collection show the Cherokee Camaro on pit lane as the field of Can Am cars accelerate down the track after receiving the green flag to start the race.
