Seattle Int. Raceway: 1969 Camaro RS/SS Z11 Conv. Pace Car for Trans Am 1969

A 1969 Camaro RS/SS Z11 convertible was used as the pace car for the 3rd Annual Kent 300 Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans-American event held at Seattle International Raceway in Kent, Washington on Sunday, September 7, 1969.  This was the 10th round of the championship and Ronnie Bucknum won the event in his 1969 Camaro Z28 fielded by Roger Penske.

Notice that the lettering on the door has been altered to display the information for this particular event.  I believe that underneath the "OFFICIAL PACE CAR" in orange lettering it states "3rd Annual Trans-Am Kent" and "September 7, 1969".

While I'm not 100% sure, the car was probably supplied by the high performance Seattle area dealer, Alan Green Chevrolet.  They had an advertisement inside the souvenir event program and Alan Green was the president of the track.  Alan Green Chevrolet was also involved in many forms of racing, including the Trans-Am.  I believe they went out of business in 1970.

 fastback Chevy Nova in drag racing.

Hint, My Auburn Wa. (Bothell Chevrolet-Cadillac, Inc.) 1969 Z11 has been on this track a few times performing with other specialty-spectator cars during the "Parade" Laps (In between racing) in connection with the Historic's event in July each year.

Your welcome Jim.  That is cool that you were able to drive your Z11 on the track.  I've had the privilege of driving my 1971 Z28 RS 4-speed manual and my 1997 Z28 Z4C 6-speed manual at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.  It's a neat perspective.
