1968 Camaro small hole in firewall

I was installing the steering column and other related parts today and noticed this very small hole it the firewall. Anybody have any idea's what it's for? Thanks Paul

1967-1968 C60 or D55 driver side footwell heater duct attachment hole. For a picture of the duct, it's in the AIM, UPC C60, Sheet A6, Item 11.

I don't have A/C or center console. I see #11 in the aim, but don't see where it attaches to the fire wall. If your looking at the fire wall from the front of the car, the hole is on the left of the accelerator pedal. The duct would have to go past the accelerator to attach to the hole in the fire wall. After 50 years it's hard to tell what somebody drilled holes for. There are 2 holes, one drilled a 1/8 of a inch above the other for the carpet guard around the steering column, who know why.

It's a nice clean hole, no rough edges or anything like that and only 1/8" or smaller in diameter. That's what's curious. I can't imagine what a hole that small would retain. That's the accelerator mount in the picture and those screws holding the mount are way to large for that hole. I'm baffled.

Ground strap cable to valve cover?
Usually the ground hole is a bit higher,
just a suggestion

Sorry, I was wrong about the firewall pad. See below...

Number 8 is the 1967-1968 M20 reverse light switch harness (per the AIM).
Number 9 is the 1967-1968 Los Angeles (alternate) M20 reverse light switch harness.
Number 11 (your hole) is the 1967-1968 C60 or D55 driver side footwell heater duct.
Number 13 is the 1967-1968 V8 throttle linkage.

If you don't have either C60 or D55, then someone drilled out the dimple.

It could be #11, but the hole is not quite that big. It looks like a hole for a sheet metal screw that never got a screw. A mystery! Thanks for the help.

It looks like the little hole below the back up light hole. I had a 67RS with a 3 speed and it had a 1" rubber plug with 2 terminals in the large hole above the little one which were back up lights. Don't know what that little hole would be for. It's a Norwood car.
