Trubk lid torsion bars
« on: January 30, 2019, 10:16:57 PM »
In 1969, did both torsion bars get a sleeve covering or just the one that goes to the LH hinge? Norwood car that doesn't have spoilers. Thank you, Joe

Just one rod receives a sleeve as shown (don't mind the elbows!). This is a 1969 Norwood built Camaro with the D80 spoiler option. I believe the sleeve was also used on non-spoiler optioned cars. It appears the torsion bars received primer and some body color however the sleeve didn't.

Thanks Lloyd. I was hoping those weren't knees & you were making your car into a rumble seat :)

My 68 from L.A., which is a spoiler car from the factory has sleeves on both. One rod size is different on the Z/28.
I didn't know if I lost one or not for the 69 Norwood car which doesn't have spoilers.

Joe, your 68 would have two different size rods due to spoiler and non-spoiler cars would have the same dia. rod. I believe all received the sleeve and since the sleeve was on assembly when color applied many times the sleeve received some color at one end due to not being placed in the center of the rod but more toward one end.

Two examples to review and note one has sleeve at left side and other car's sleeve at right side.
