Is there some possibility that they were not installed on VERY late '69 Camaros??  Were they put on 1970 Camaros?   'late 69's got some planned 1970 changes...'

That I can't help you with Gary, but it doesn't appear a cable was used on the 1970 Camaro. At least I can't find one being referenced in any of the P&A's.

I asked the same question in post 41 of this thread (back in 2016), and no one has ever responded, yea or nay!~   I'm sure there's a couple of other Sept'69 or later Camaros that could be checked....?

Gary it could just be that the supplier had completed anticipated production for the scheduled end of the '69 MY and the cable wasnt considered 'essential' enough to commission another run when it was realised production would continue for a few months longer.....

I never paid attention to mine but this got me curious.  Since we use ours daily and frequently use the back seat, I already knew the passenger seat would lay forward on the dash.  So I figured it wasn't there.

I looked and sure enough it was actually there.  Someone had disconnected the lower half and looped it up to the upper connection.  I guess they didn't like it.  Looking at it now, it does appear rather short, so not sure I even want to hook it back up.  It's nice to lay the seat all the way forward to access the back.  I may temporarily hook it up for giggles just to check it but it looks like it will limit the seat from at least half of it's movement making rear seat access more difficult.

I thought that might be a possibility also, Tim, which is why I was hoping a few other owners of late (extended production time period) 69 Camaros would pipe up... I would assume that part would have been installed when the seat was manufactured??

I finally looked at my 67 11B LOS which originally had black deluxe interior.  Gray cable even though seats were black.  Seated were recovered etc. back in the 80s.  Fortunately the upholstery guy put it back in.

I noted that headrest seats probably wouldn't have these, or would require a shorter cable to prevent hitting the dash pad.
