Another 69Z project for sale (orange this time)
« on: December 09, 2018, 07:45:59 AM »
Well we discussed that red 69Z on ebay for 23.9 that just sold. I just saw this one very similar to that car but 72 72 Hugger Orange for $22,500:

According to the map it looks to be located just south of indianapolis?

(One draw back compared with the red one, is this is a pre X code trim tag car, but he said it is present behind the rear seat.)

It's obviously been painted in the past, or some of it anyway. It's too early of a car to have a ZL2 hood and wide rear spoiler.  So it's not as virgin as it may sound in the description. Interesting it has front bumper guards but the rear ones are gone.   But looks like a possible cool project if everything else checks out okay.  I like the color combo, and I'm a sucker for white interior.

Could be a clone. Lots of guys put emblems on cars. No proof shown. The marking behind the rear seat is not proof. Doesn’t even sound like the rear end is original.

I think the mark behind the back seat can contribute to documenting a non X coded car. As far as the paint or spoiler, even the red car had the wrong stripe layout from a respray.

There is something reassuring about at least having an original X coded tag though.

Original 15 x 7 AD wheels would help it's case.

Total restoration would far exceed the value.

I would think with both the red car and this car, it wouldn't make sense to do a full resto.

If the price was 5 or 6k and someone wanted a project to do themselves maybe. If it was proved to be a Z it would also help. Now it is just worth the sum of the parts.

Don't think so - horseshoe shifter - and should have left it in the river it was pulled.

This car is in/from the rust belt and is being advertised in Southern California.
No one in their right mind in SoCal is going to buy and ship this crust bucket to the area of rust free cars. Especially a NOM project car with no provenance.

Well I am in So Cal, and saw it on Craigslist here. To me it didn't look a while lot different than the red Z on eBay that sold for 23k. So I thought it worth mentioning. Both cars had a missing drive train, and needed rear quarters and trunk floor minimum. Red car had the correct tag, orange car may * be  an original Z since he says it has the correct mark behind the rear seat. Perhaps the  correct rear end and some other components would help indicate that. The reason I posted was merely to show there are still Z projects out there. The original more reputable cars have definitely dried up, and these types of cars are the entry level it seems now. So quite a big gap from these to the next level, and quite a bit of money.

I agree Bullitt, a lot of the better cars are drying up.  This one doesn't really look all that bad.  Typical panel replacement needed on most neglected 50 year old cars.  I guess it depends on location but around here $20k doesn't get you much of a car.  I've seen base 69 Camaro's trade hands that looked far worse.  So someone will buy it eventually and save it most likely.
