Is there an offset flywheel turning tool?
« on: October 23, 2018, 03:46:23 PM »
Does anyone know if there exists an offset type of flywheel turning tool? I'm looking to get something that can turn the flywheel while the bell housing (manual transmission) is still installed. The tool I have requires it to be secured directly under the wheel and the bell housing will not allow that due to limited clearance.

Thanks!
Mike

Everyone I see listed is like the style I have.

What are you working at?
Cant just rotate the crank at the front of the engine?

Probably some negative feedback, but I've also used my small rounded-
Blunt ended prybar, plugs pulled, no issues. Just make sure securly seated between the teeth.

I have the special socket that slips over the crank snout (when no damper is mounted) to turn the engine by hand, but I want to be able to turn the engine using the flywheel with the bell housing mounted.

Funny😁
Sorry, no ideas,,,,other then cutting down another flywheel wrench to the length you need, and re-welding.

Starter does do a pretty good job though.  Lots of runs over the weekend due to the weather in ne ohio, little punchy today

Never seen one. But the McGiver in me thinks an old starter drive, a bracket to bolt to the starter mount, and a nut welded on to be turned with a 1/2 rachet?

Ya know.....I was thinking along those same lines after Bryon's joke.
I have a junk starter and a MIG welder I can use.  :)

I think you can Mike. Through the air wrench on it and do compression tests.
