covertible Header Seal

Help! I'm in the process of restoring the convertible to frame for my '68 and need to find out what type of fastener goes into the holes in the picture, my original top had the weather seal but was missing the fasteners that went in the metal tabs, are they plastic plugs or some type of screws? Thanks

My 67 used a zinc plated screw for the tabs.

IF you have removed your upper windshield Left and right convertible headers they must be sealed correctly or they will leak like a sieve and it will probably only happen IF YOU ARE DRIVING IN THE RAIN or spray water up the windshield when washing the car... EVERYONE believes it is the convertible header seal... they replace it and it happens again and again...
The water runs up the windshield into reveal gutter then up the rear windshield frame and over the lip under the convertible headers and then into your lap...

This is the front edge and area where the LEFT AND RIGHT NEST together in the center.

Most people do not consider this area, I cannot tell you how many times I have heard of the problem AND until understanding the issue I could not figure it out...
FWIW how to seal the area is BEST ILLUSTRATED in my 1971 CORVETTE ASSEMBLY MANUAL.
 
... I deal with C3 Corvettes and 95% of owner restored cars also have this issue.

You are right! when I disassembled the car it had a lot of that gray colored sealer on it and made it harder than... to get that piece off, but with a three year restoration I totally forgot it, and now after your last post I will check my '72 Vette now as well! Thanks, Curt
