New project, I finally got her home.
« on: May 27, 2018, 09:47:36 PM »
After a lengthy period of looking and weeks of negotiating. I have finally bought my project. As some of you might know, I have been looking at a 67 vert for a while. This car is an original Tuxedo Black with red interior and white top. I do want a deluxe interior and will replace the white top with a black one. Here is what I settled on. Pictures are of the trek to bring her home from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City. I have inventoried the parts and cleaned up what I could. Seems pretty complete except for motor and trans. I am planning a L30/M20 build. Looks like that was in the car at the born date. I have many questions about convertibles for those who are up to speed on them. I know plenty about the coupes. Not convertibles. Enjoy my attached pictures.

Last picture is the tag glued to the gages that the car has. Nice to see some date coded correct things on the car. I would assume the gages are original to the car.

Body is pretty rust free. There are some issues with the quarter drop downs. But wont be that hard to fix. I am missing the fender cocktail shakers though. Anyone want to part with a pair for me?

Looks like a great basis for a pretty car - great and classic combination of trim, paint and interior.

I'll defer further comments to the '67 guys - I'm not near as familiar with the 7's as 8's and 9's.

Regards,
Steve

A guy drove by my house and saw my Z in the garage and asked if it was for sale.  Everything's for sale, but he was looking for a project for his son.  I said head on down to NV or AZ.  Not much left like that here in the rain forest.

Give some thought to keeping the white top, especially if that's how it originally was built.  I had a 66 Fairlane GT convertible in that same color combo, black exterior, red interior, white top - I still think that was one of the most stunning color combos made.

I agree, a new white top would really set off the black. And love the red interior.

Sorry, my post didn't put my comments on the car for some reason.  I originally said, "Very nice find and excellent project car from the drier regions".

Nice!

Looks like a base 327 4 speed car.  But if the original engine is gone, build what you want.

Definitely try to keep the original colors. That’s a great combo.

What is the axle code?

Pics of some 67 Tuxedo black cars at this link. One convertible with black top and one with white.

Actually since you need to redo the seats, going with red deluxe might look REALLY good. Especially if you go with a black top.  Pics of 67 red deluxe interior at this link.
