Correct positraction lubrication tag ???
« on: April 04, 2018, 03:10:49 PM »
I have a '68 with a 10 bolt positraction rear end. I would like to know what is the correct "use positraction lube only" tag should be used with it.

I have looked in the catalogs and on this site and can't seem to come up with a definitive answer.

What I have seen so far suggests the red triangular tag was only used with 12 bolts rear ends on the fill plug (not sure why they offer them in 3/4 inch and 1 inch versions).....and that 10 bolts used the metal tag attached to one of the cover bolts.

If the metal tag is correct for a 10 bolt, which cover bolt would it go on and how should it be oriented?

Thanks.......Dave

If you enter "positraction tag" in the search box at the upper right corner of the forum page and hit enter, you'll pull up all older discussion threads with those words you entered.  Here's one example, where it appears the metal tag was not used on first generation Camaros:

Maybe I am doing something wrong but when put "positraction tag" in the search box, the only thing that comes up is my original post and your reply......just those two.

Go to Home, then Search type subject and then Advanced.   I've always used Advanced in searching.

I believe the metal tag was for second gens with limited slip.
I had one on my 1975 Trans Am.

I do not have an answer for you but I will continue to look.  I am working on some research in this general area of concern.

12 bolts received the red tag.  I am not sure about 10 bolts in Camaros, but it appears that the 10 bolts in Firebirds received the rectangular metal tag.  Research ongoing...

That’s correct for 12 bolt.

What about 10 bolt posi tags?
