Is it just me or does it seem like the scammers are getting out of control?

I have actually seen many original stamped rear ends. There are a handful of variations I have observed. The stamp on this rear end looks fine to me, based on other originals.

Looked to me in the ebay item, why is the U the only digit that seems to be stamped deeper and you can read all of the letter

My guess....The gang stamp looked to be held at a slight angle and the 'U' being higher is more within the "strike" zone.

I agree, not only is the U deeper and out of line, but every other character is stamped light at the bottom except for the "U". So did the axle plant stamp the second code character separate? That U was clearly not in the gang stamp when the other letters were stamped.

I have seen a number of stamps where it looks like the letters and numbers were stamped individually. It is more the exception to the rule. Most of them the dates are in line, and the Axle code stamped separate and deeper.
