Found this and thought it should be posted on here. The VIN stamp on the block looks like it was double stamped, but it appears to be legit.

Full VIN: 124378N422169
Engine pad is stamped: 18N422169  V0321MO
Block casting number: 3914678
Block casting date: C 13 8
Seller contact information: 317-667-6240

Listing description...

"For sale is a real deal 68 z28 block with 68 z28 crank. Block is standard and been checked, cleaned and has new freeze plugs and cam bearings. This has the factory applied GM stamp pad that was verified. This car is still around and last registered in Montgomery County Ohio. Vin 422169. Also available is rebuild dated 4053 carb and 621 intake that lines up with the block. Asking $2850 for block and crank and $1450 for carb and intake. Will take less if the owner of the car buys. Would like to see reunited with car, if not would be next best thing in another z. FYI the stamp on the pad is what is called a "bounce stamp" this was verified by MacNeish when he was at my place this year. A bounce stamp pad would actually be much harder to replicate that a straight stamp. This set up came from a large, locally well known collection of parts of a GM retiree."

I am hoping since there was a smaller production in 68 (than 69) that these 68 blocks will be reunited with the original cars, like Cooks red 68, or Joe's Bronze 68Z. Seems like we are due for a good story about finding the original car for one of these orphans right about now... :)

Yes, I agree it would be nice to hear a true story of an engine being reunited with the car it came from.

I know of 2 Lemans Blue 1968 Z28s that were wrecked and I am 99 percent sure they were crushed in the 70s.

I know of another 1968 Z28 that was wrecked pretty bad around 1980 and it had some rust by that point too. I doubt it is around today.  The engine from that car was in a late 30s street rod the last I heard about it 15 or so years ago.

There is always hope, but people should not get their hopes too high.
