Hurst shifter identification help
« on: November 11, 2016, 11:38:33 PM »
Hi, I am trying to figure out what this Hurst shifter came out of.
I found it in a box of auto parts after my grandfather died, so any info would help greatly.

It is labeled - Hurst Dual Pattern With Syncro/Loc
Also there is a number above that - 288671
The large mounting bracket also has a number - 1581D
It is a long chrome squared handle with a black ball.
It has about a 60deg bend in the lever.
And it has HURST stamped into the middle of the handle.

Any info would be amazing, sorry if this is a bad post.

That is a pretty old shifter. I would suggest contacting a person at Hurst. http://www.hurst-shifters.com/product-category/

A picture would help. Sounds like a Hurst 3 speed shifter that I have.

Well I am sure it wasn't in a 67-69 Camaro originally. Looks like a 3 speed shifter (look how many levers there are on the bottom side and let us know). Probably for a pickup or bench seat car.

how long is the chrome stick?

early Chevelle or Impala was 12 or 13 in
when you get to 14 15 , more likely a truck shifter

looks like a pick up truck 3 speed

I don't see a personal email address for the OP. Guess it is a waiting game then.

Apparently no one but CRG staff can see email addresses, so I sent an email to the OP for Bentley. It's a yahoo address, so who knows if it's still active.
