1002 7 blade fan - 68 396
« on: June 21, 2017, 08:40:24 PM »
I was wondering if the "1002" (last 4 #'s) 7-blade clutch fan would be correct for a 68 L34, non-AC, Camaro?
The info I have is a bit ambiguous - "limited usage". No reference to Big Block.
If not, then which would be the correct fan for this application?
Thank you.

Unless your car had RPO K02, you got the fixed fan. More info HERE.

Thank you Ed; I had already read this. Since the reference to the 1002 fan is, again,  "limited observed", I was looking for confirmation of l34/35 (real-life cars) of having being equipped with the 1002 fan. Reference car is 68 l34 non-AC. I see no documentation stating the 1002 fan was never used on the L34/35.
I also was under the impression that only the solid lifter engines received the 3871276 fan due to the higher revving engine requiring a larger fan-to-clutch mounting circle.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Fan for AC or K02 cars

For 1968 cars with hydraulic lifter engines with AC or K02 (except 1968 L34/L35 with K02), the 3789562 fan or the 3931002 fan was installed. The 3931002 is a seven blade fan with limited observed usage on Camaros; it has so far been found on some LF7 (327/210hp) cars with air conditioning.

Yes, limited use, but only on the LF7 with A/C
