Attached is a photo of my original (laying out on the floor, not in my trunk), but you can see the cutouts from the factory...

what is the hole in the left side of your original mat for Gary?
...

What is the cut slot on the left side?  Any markings on the back side?

OK Darrell... just for you....  :)

I've always believed this trunk mat was original to my Z28/RS (since I purchased it in April '76), but I don't *know* this for certain.   When I traded for it, the car was original in all respects and had been used for a bit over 6 yrs and had nearly 70K miles on it.  A policeman in Huntsville owned it for a year or so, then traded it in, then a man bought it for his daughter's 16th birthday.  She had it until Feb/March of '76 and sold it to *another policeman*.  He had it for only a few weeks before I traded him my '68 Z28 for it.

Yes, there is a number printed on the backside (see photo attached).  I've posted a photo of that here previously, and no I don't *know* this is a factory '69 Camaro trunkmat, but it *appeared to be so in '76* and I still have no better information.  Nor do I know what that cutout is for... :)

Also attached are a couple of photos with the mat laying in the trunk.  Note:  This mat was well used and torn in several places when I purchased it.  The trunk wasn't 'used' much in the period between '76 and '80 when I drove the car irregularly.  It's been stored since, so the great majority of wear/tear in the mat was done before 1976.

I would love to compare this mat to 'known' original Camaro mats from the late '69 time frame (Sept 1969).  If I knew it wasn't original, I'd toss it because the condition is not great and I've 'taped' the backside of several tears in it...

Also: Andy it looks like you are running a rubber sleeve around your jack and tire iron, I thought only Pontiacs had the rubber sleeve?

I have no idea if these straps are the correct ones. The AIM shows two straps on UPC 10 A2. But I have a space saver, and the AIM doesn't show straps for N65. So this is wrong regardless. Good thing I didn't show you pictures of the rest of my trunk...

Hahaha. Sorry force of habit. I was on a pontiac site looking at spare tire hooks, and noticed the bands, or sleave for the jack and tire iron, and someone let me know it was a pontiac only thing for a while. Maybe in the 70's chevrolet started using them as well.
Your whole car is A OK in my book. I am hoping you out pics of the interior, I wanted to see that accessory tach

If I can get my lazy butt to take some decent pics, I'll submit them for the cover. But there are so many little things that are unfinished or missing (e.g. my lost 290 horn) that I will probably wait. I can send you pics of the accessory tach?

Your car would be a great cover story car. I am sure there are many more guys than just me that would love to see more pics of your car, including that rarely seen tach. You can just post a pic of the tach in your thread. thanks! :)

IS there a sleeve for pontiacs then? I could have sworn I saw something different on a firebird I thought?

Some other brands used a single long rubber sleeve, rather than the 2 short ones referred to above for Camaro coupes.

So that's how my lug wrench is supposed to held in place. I don't have the rubber sleeve, and I've wondered how to keep the wrench from moving around.

I purchased a reproduction a few years ago, but when it arrived..  it was *nothing* like the original (not the material, the thickness, nothing!).. so I returned it..
Gary did you ever find a reproduction mat that was very similar ?   Or has anyone had a good experience with any repro's at all ?  and if so who ?

Thanks
Darrell
