I've always believed this trunk mat was original to my Z28/RS (since I purchased it in April '76), but I don't *know* this for certain. When I traded for it, the car was original in all respects and had been used for a bit over 6 yrs and had nearly 70K miles on it. A policeman in Huntsville owned it for a year or so, then traded it in, then a man bought it for his daughter's 16th birthday. She had it until Feb/March of '76 and sold it to *another policeman*. He had it for only a few weeks before I traded him my '68 Z28 for it.
Yes, there is a number printed on the backside (see photo attached). I've posted a photo of that here previously, and no I don't *know* this is a factory '69 Camaro trunkmat, but it *appeared to be so in '76* and I still have no better information. Nor do I know what that cutout is for...
Also attached are a couple of photos with the mat laying in the trunk. Note: This mat was well used and torn in several places when I purchased it. The trunk wasn't 'used' much in the period between '76 and '80 when I drove the car irregularly. It's been stored since, so the great majority of wear/tear in the mat was done before 1976.
I would love to compare this mat to 'known' original Camaro mats from the late '69 time frame (Sept 1969). If I knew it wasn't original, I'd toss it because the condition is not great and I've 'taped' the backside of several tears in it...
