Muscle Car Review-Not a Camaro

 Not a Camaro but Muscle Car Review chose this car of a close friend for an article.  This was chosen for a write-up over his real 10-10 69 Z/28, a survivor 440 Six Pack Shaker Hood Challenger, and a survivor 340 Shaker Hood Cuda. Those are just three of dozens. I'm doing a rotisserie resto on an all original, build sheet, black 70 SS El Camino for him, and an original 70 442 is just getting frame on bodywork and paint. I like the fact that he actually drives his cars, and will do so after a nut and bolt resto on the Camino. Getting caught in the rain or driving down a dirt road is not an issue if the situation arises. The Road Runner was a pleasant surprise to the author as it represents the era differently than all the trailer queens out there. I hand lettered the decklid years ago and it was partially buffed off to match the patina of the car. I happen to like the body styles, lines and graphics of Mopars.

Nice write up. One of the cars that was supposed to be my first car (but didn't end up that way) was a 70 Roadrunner, 383 automatic with the Air Grabber hood. Dad brought it home on a trailer. Transmission or torque converter was bad. Sat on the trailer about a week, then someone drive up and made an offer too high to refuse. And down the road it went. Wish I knew where it is now.

You do some great work Scott and your friend has some very cool cars....... I really like the Mopars a lot but not much back in the day as I was a die hard GM guy as my Dad sold them. How long was it before the article was placed in the magazine? My friends 69 TransAm Firebird was over two years and another guys Pro-touring Camaro Convertible lagged a crazy 7 years before print.

when I read that article, I thought there was an error in the paint on the 69 Roadrunner - they referred to the original paint as 'lime light', whereas the color on that car was totally different than the color I ordered on my '70 Roadrunner which was called 'lime light'.   So I had to go find the paint chips and codes for '69 and '70 Plymouths.   As it turns out, Plymouth did use the same 'color name' on two totally different colors over those two years!  (I don't recall GM ever doing such a thing!)..

My first new car... ordered Fall '69.. Received before Christmas!   ( 6 tickets in the first 4 months I owned it)..    - this photo isn't of my car, but it was just like it ...

The photo shoot was in June 2016. The author/photographer works for Peterson Publishing and knew of my friend's collection. Cars are also submitted by car owners and freelancers to the company. At a particular time, the magazine may have a certain car or cars in mind with an interesting story for an issue. My friend does nothing to invite the attention, it just happens to fall in his direction by word of mouth. His other cars are on file and may be published at some point.
