Yes. Edelbrock ended up making a manifold with the notch already in it for the 3 bbl. when it was popular.

Yes, for the 3 barrel carb. It's an old racers trick used until the open plenum intakes were more common (even for 4 barrel carbs).
If you run across one that is uncut - do NOT cut it!

My 1967 Corvette has the original engine and it is a 351 block but is only a 390 hp did the 351 block have a lot of uses? thanks Darrell

The 3904351 block was used for Full Size Chevrolet (Impala), Corvette and Warranty/Service. 4 bolt main for 430 and 435 hp, and some Warranty/Service.
