Early Interior Color / Grille Color advice
« on: August 09, 2016, 06:23:38 PM »
Brief history:
Hello, New here, but have been researching and researching for weeks, as our new '68 Convertible landed in our lap recently.  I owned a '68 coupe 20 years ago and sold it after a year, gotta do what you gotta do sometimes; only to be constantly seeking the right one... and I think it found us.  It's a survivor, save being repainted in 1984, the driver's seat cover being done (wrong color-bright white), and possibly the grille being replaced at some point. (?? it's green plastic and has no emblem on it).  I have, in the past week, put new tires and I painted the rally wheels.

Getting down to it. It's an 03D car (Assembled 4th week of March, 1968). Interior code 730(Parchment White Custom interior w/ Black), and Paint code U1(LeMans Blue with White Convertible Top).

1) How can I find the right color seat cover(s) to get everything matching
2) With all the back and forth...being my car was built in March of '68, should the grill really have argent silver lateral with a satin black framing, or should the whole thing be argent silver?

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT!!!!!  Couldn't be more excited!!!!
Mark

Parchment is a pearl like in 68 if I am not mistaken, you may have to dye the drivers cover. Otherwise try to find a used original passenger cover and have it put on the drivers seat.

Right on, firstgen.  I've been looking hear and there for a set...just the fronts.  I've seen them in a catalog a few days ago but I question the color...it appeared very similar on the website, but was listed as Ivory. So... the research continue on that. Thanks for the response!

There's parchment  (730) and ivory (711).
"730 Parchment was early and was a different color from the Ivory. 711/716 were late and both used the same Ivory color."

I was reading a little about that too now.
The driver's seat cover must be the 711 or 716 then I assume, as it's seem like a bright white, thought it's stated as Ivory.
Compared to what I have, which has a real yellowy-pearl look to it when the light catches it right...kind of like fish scales out of water have a pearly kind of rainbow look.  Pictures I take of it don't seem to catch the stark difference in the two...I'll keep trying.

plus, I'll just dig around for the 730 then and confirm/expect the place I seek it from knows and has what I need.

Thanks, Kurt!

My 68 GTO built 10C is Parchment interior and it is pearl. I have been putting off the restoration until I can find a good used interior or majority of it. ... even if I have to buy a complete car to get it.

Your grille should be painted argent.
The greenish color is the plastic color out of the extruder.
