67 ss 350 block on ebay
« on: July 03, 2018, 07:22:20 PM »
Guys look at the attached pictures and is it possible that this block can be cast Sept 30th  of 1966 with a assembly date of April 20 of 1967? The deck has broach marks but I am leary of this one because of the spread of cast vs build dates. What do you think?

To me it looks like an overstamped V0120MS assembly date, but that is still way past the block casting date.  I'd question the seller if they posted the right picture for the casting date.  V0420MS would be pretty close to the car assembly date for that Norwood VIN.

Right. I've been talking to him. He just posted measurements of the crank journal. I laughed because he used a caliper that you cant even get an accurate measurement with. Even used a tape measure. Haha.

The VIN looks like the wrong size font, so it's quite possible it all restamped.

I think the VIN font looks wrong.  The head gasket usually leaves marks but I don't see that.  Date spread is hard to justify.  Exactly where was that block sitting unused for months on end?

See it in person before paying for the numbers.  I would not make a trip to see the numbers based on what we see here.

Is this the ever elusive small journal 350 block? Haha haha

I'd need a better pic to be sure, but I think the stamp is fine.

Size of the engine assembly don’t looks too close to the size of the partial VIN font but it may be an optical illusion.

His picture shows other blocks in the background.  I'm still thinking he attached the wrong stamp pad photo with this casting photo.

There are a few cases with wide separation between casting and assembly. Usually with big blocks though.
