Thanks Chick.   Makes sense that the bolt may have been swapped when they attached the brake bracket.  I think I'll remove and phosphate plate the bolt.

Dave, another side note to your question and picture, my 3841230 screws and what I've found were clear zinc. Where my other original is located. Note mfg. marking on both screw and bracket.

Glad it's right. I kind of figured you wouldn't have let something like that go... I'm going to probably go back at some point and do the clip and bolt finishes better. 95% or better of my bolts and brackets are original to my car, so the markings look great after I process them most times. For now I've just been cleaning and protecting more or less. Yours look outstanding!

Here's another pic that backs up what we proved here. This is a survivor 69 Z28 sold recently by Nickey.

Thanks guys. Although not near as purdy as yours, mine looks like yours also Hans. I've seen a few other 12 bolts like that as well. My rear end was like yours Rich, unmolested. Mine had never been out of my car and has all original gears, brake hardware etc. Are both of yours late 69 builds by any chance.
Sgt Hawk my car is later 09C

What is the length of the 11- shouldered cover plate bolts ? Thanks, Ed

Ed they are usually 1/2" to maybe 5/8" I havent measured but theyre short

Thanks Rich. I think by looking at the date spread we decided it wasn't an early vs. late build thing. Seems to be across the boards.

I will try to look on my 68 sometime.

I can tell you for sure on my 67 Chevelle SS that all 12 bolts were the same when I took the cover off. And that was the first time the cover had ever been off.  This is VERY distinct in my memory because I broke off one of the bolts when I did this. And had to go dig through the spare parts bin to find another one.
