67 Manual Disc Master Cylinder Rebuild

The Master Cylinder in my '67 SS/RS Camaro has failed.   Rust in the bore caused the piston to no longer seal in the cylinder.
A local mechanic tried to hone it, but the rust scoring is too deep to clean up such that a rebuilt piston/seals will fix the problem.
Looks like I need someone to sleeve it.  Question is, who?  Anyone know someone that can do this right?  I've found a few places online (Karp's(CA) and Apple Hydraulics(NY)), but would appreciate info. from someone who has worked with a vendor before and had good work done.  Brakes are too important to have someone do a sub-standard job.  Some places advertise brass sleeves, with others using stainless steel.  Which is better?

Casting number is 5459467, 1" bore, with application code AD.

I've dealt with karp's a couple of times and have had no issues. I went with them because they use stainless, which is harder (and less susceptible to scoring) than brass.

I've sent master cylinders to White Post Restorations (www.whitepost.com) for decades, including several sets of irreplaceable and priceless Ferrari aluminum master and wheel cylinders, and have never had a problem with them.

I never responded on this.  I ended up sending the master cylinder to White Post Restorations.  They did a beautiful job on the restoration of the master cylinder and it looks beautiful and works perfectly.  I am a very satisfied customer. Thanks for the recommendation.

Keep your receipt. They warranty them for life. They covered my vettes after 10 years.

How long of a turnaround was it for White Post to do the job?

White Post did my '69 Z/28 master (309-US) in 2000 for $158.00 (sleeve and rebuild), and did the same to my '67 Corvette master (5455509-DC) in 2002 for $162.00; turnaround in both cases was 3 days.  :)

The restoration that White Post Restorations did on the non-power (front disc, rear drum) master cylinder for my '67 Camaro took about 1 week round trip (UPS Ground), and cost approx.  $250 (can't remember the exact amount and don't have access to the receipt here) in late 2012.

White Post is very highly regarded here in VA. Can't go wrong in choosing them for any brake work you need.
