I ran into this problem when mice chewed up my nos felts. I bought outer quarter felts from HBC that fit well, were very close to my nos felts, but had a sharp blunt end. Here is a link to how I modified them and another approach also. George

Thanks, George. I read where there are some felts available, that are "show" quality and even have the rubber flap on the rear. I am very concerned about getting something I will not be happy with. Sounds like yours would be acceptable without giving a fortune, which I don't have right now. That is kind of what I was hoping to get as far as feedback. I remember reading your refrenced post now. If you feel they are ok, then that is good enough for me. I'll just make sure my tail panel is not Gloss! lol.

Recently purchased PUI felts shown have sharp ends as James stated. PUI felts bought 10 years ago are the same. Quarter window felt shapes vary and may not match the window ledge contour very well.

I manipulated the sharp ends with pinchers and files to an acceptable degree, but I had more issues with the more narrow rubber strip along the bead.  It was only about 60% as wide as the original...

That width difference is shown in the link I provided on the previous page. The retainer location on the felts or the quarter may result in the rubber strip being sucked below the quarter ledge.

George, That was my attempt to rely on my memory (not reliable) and add some humor (just confused many) and I apologize. I was referencing some long debated topic of whether the SS tailpanel is gloss or semi-gloss and I thought you were adamant in the "gloss" camp. I am in the "semi gloss" group. Anyway back to the serious part, the felts. I would appreciate much if you could find out more information regarding manufacturer and if you have more pics comparing detail with GM, that would be great too. Your attention to detail and fact finding make your opinions very valued and thank you for the research and leg work you already performed to make my decisions easier in my resto.

The company is Repops. I have not used them yet but some have had success. I'm sure more threads can be found at TC, these are just two I recall from Rick and Roger. All one has to do is ask a vendor what their retuirn policy is. If you don't like them just send them back. I've done it numerous times.

It's 'REPOPS' parts; company was began by Harvey Clark, but I've been told he sold the company, who also was one of the three individuals who began the CCCI (now owned by Ecklers Classic Chevy)..

I found the best price (for the outers only) from Lonestar Carparts ($70).  In response to your request, I made some comparison photos between one of the door outers and my original part I removed.  NOTE:  I was wrong about the width of the rubber; it actually seems very close to the original, but when I installed the driverside, the rubber didn't cover the same area of the upper door.   It's probably like Sauron posted... ie.  something is preventing the new strip from getting as tight to the door as the original??   See photos below.

I used "Re-Pops" brand on my '69 with the Custom Interior option and they fit about 95%.  There was an issue with the inside rear quarter fuzzy that I was able to modify to my acceptance.  The tips "might" have ben be a little sharper than original parts but I am sure I reworked them before I installed them.  It has been some time and my recolection may be "fuzzy" as well.  Used the proper bend-it-yourself staples to install the door fuzzies and it came out good enough for me.  I would seek them out if I ever need another set as they seemed to be a better choice in reproduction fuzzies.
