111480 DZ Distributor Opinion

Does anybody have any opinion on the surface of this distributor? I don't remember seeing any of these original aluminum distributors with that rough of a surface?

It could have been bead or sand blasted to cause the rough texture or then again it could have been done that way to may it look aged for another reason. But, what is of interest are the small machining grooves do no run through the number stampings as I have usually seen on other distributors. Here is a link to one made 3 days before this one as a reference. Not sure if the stampings are original or not. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Z28-1111480-distributor-9E13-May-69-302-/231148907146?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35d18c6a8a&vxp=mtr#ht_1906wt_977

Just my observation.

Looks like advanced oxidation/wear over a pretty good period of time. Font looks to be correct, oxidation appears over most of the body. Cap mounting area appears intact (about a .020" step on most distributors, you get the suggestion of that here). I have a known original 499 distributor with similar wear and markings to this.

Since he's seen so many of them over the years, Jerry MacNeish's opinion would be a good one to look for here -

Just my opinion -

It's the same date as my '480'..   I think it's an original stamping, just very corroded and oxidized.
PS. but I don't think I'd want it on my car..  it's so badly corroded...
