We haven't done anything yet on the farms. Been getting a lot of rain. No soybeans or corn planted yet. Haven't even been out to turn any dirt over. Some of the nearby farms have rye growing but nothing else.

Corn makes whiskey !

One better...bought a newly redone 64 Impala SS convertible ,black on red ,in 86 when I was home on leave from the Air Force, drove it a couple of days when someone keyed both sides ,broke the antenna and side mirrors. Suspected who but couldn't prove...jealousy and I'll leave it at that.

Led to a huge headache with a body man, very long story...law suit...engines on a stand ,glides in the Anglia. Lawyer won.

You asked about repairing it: I have seen dent pullers get stuff out that was very similar to that. Big dents no paint loss, I would look into that first, they may be able to get 99% of that dent out with the special tools and know how now a days.
Just a suggestion, good luck with it.

That appears to be two 2x4 scrub marks; one about 2-3" higher than the other....

Here is a better shot from a different angle. With the silver the above pics don't seem to really show the extent of the damage. Maybe the dealer can work it out. Probably will have some filler in there I suppose.

Maybe sticking straight out the back of a pick up over the tailgate and backing up. This truck is huge, somebody had to be blind as a bat if they didn't see that thing in their rearview mirror.

Yes, that's exactly the way those scrub marks looked to me....

What's the black film then that was left by 'whatever' struck the panel? The upper damage looks like rubber scrapes, like something skipped along on it's way to the rear, and the bottom damage line from the leading edge of the bulge rearward into the deep dent and across the tail light has a film I can pick off with my finger nail. It's a bit hard to really tell from the pics I posted but there really is a black film substance that was pressed against that panel. Insurance agent thought it bit unusual looking when he looked at it today. IDK, weird. Without being there it's pure speculation, at least on my part anyway.

If any one cares to know...Just got the OK to get the truck fixed, $1980.00 less my deductible. I think the State Farm adjuster called it a non-driver claim? Going to replace the panel. Chevy dealer/collision tech says it's kind of 'iffy' either way to fix or replace the panel based on where the damage is. The tech says it looks like an SUV with a rear tire on the tailgate hit it or something high enough that had some kind of plastic trim on it.

Non-driver claim = because the insurance covers the car, not the driver, in this case...
