Hi,

Are there any numbers stamped in original 1969 quarter panels by the weather strip lip?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Where are they on the rear quarter panels?  I found the date code stamps on the front fenders and trunk lid but I cannot find where they are located on the rear quarter panels.

Thanks,
Mike

Right where you said. In the lip up by where the trunk filler panel meets the quarter. Paint can fill it in pretty easily if they are confirmed OE quarters.

Thanks for the reply. Would it be possible to post a picture of yours?  I am 99% sure mine are original and only what I believe is original paint covering that both corners and I cannot see any stamped numbers.

Thanks,
Mike

I recently replaced my quarters. I'd reason to bet you could find some pics over on Camaros.net though. I did a quick Google search, but I couldn't find any. I have some pics saved at home. I'll try to remember to post them later. Did you try looking at it from the bottom of the lip? From inside the trunk? You might be able to see it that way also. Make sure you look on both sides. There have been cases where one of the quarters wasn't stamped for one reason or another.
I'm not sure why the responses are lacking around here for certain things lately, but have patience. More than one CRG member has plenty of pics of the stamps also.

Thank you. I can see what I believe is a "8". Are there any other numbers covered up? What are the other sheet metal date codes on your code for the hood and front fenders?

Thanks,
Mike

I couldn't read that date from my photo; I showed you that photo so you would know where to look for your code, but to answer your question I went down to my basement and looked at the car with a bright light.   The driver side quarter (which that photo was made from) actually has H 26 (upside down from my photo).  The opposite quarter has H 32? (last digit not entirely clear), Trunk was  'A 26'.  My hood is 25.  The front fenders I can see 'slight indentations where the stamps are', but not legible due to paint thickness (I think my front fenders / hood was repainted before my purchase in 1976.  The firewall back is original paint for certain.

note:  the numbers represent the 'week' of the year as I understand the code.

I hope this helps you in decoding your own car.   :)

Hi Gary,

Thank you for positing the picture of the your quarter panel stampings. With the help of your pictures I have now found both of my quarter panel stamps.  Thanks again for posting your picture.
