1967 Camaro v6 engine

Looking to purchase a 67 camaro. The vin reflects the engine originally being a v6. The current owner selling has a 350 crate 4 barrel carb engine in it. This was the way he purchased.

Anything to worry about? Pretty novice when it comes to engines and gen 1 camaros.

Just a follow up. I'm not looking to drag race or enter car shows. The seller is asking 20k for it. I just want to make sure this combination won't cause me a lot of problems down the road,

Probably a lot (to most?) of the 6 cyl Camaros have been converted to V8's over the intervening 45 or so years...  by itself, it's nothing to worry about (although NOT original), but I'd also want to know what else he changed to the V8 item (springs?, trans?, rear end?, etc).   The trim tag shows you how it was built originally, but after 45 years one has to play detective to see what has been changed, and how well it was done...

By the way, no v6 on any first gen. They were all inline or L6's

Current owner hasn't done a lot. Power brakes, driveline, fuel pump and lines, and replaced shocks. Aside from those items I assume nothing major has been done. It currently has a Muncie 4 speed and I believe a 12 bolt rear end .

New shocks won't do much good without proper springs for the weight added...

Do you have the weights of the 230/250 ci 6 cyl engine?   I've been under the impression the weight was very similar to a small block V8 of the same era..?

the rear end and trans are original. The new drive line is sized for V8 torque. Is ok to have an original manual trans and rear end for a 6 cyl matched up with a 350 engine? Like i said no drag racing but i might want to step on it every once in awhile.

If the rear axle and transmission (12 bolt and a Muncie 4 speed) are original then it wasn't a 6 cylinder from the factory.  While you could have conceivably ordered a 12 bolt with a 6 cylinder if you ordered the right posi equipped rear axle ratio, there was no way tp order a 4 speed muncie with a 6 cylinder, it would have had a saginaw tranny originally.

Those numbers are in the AMA section of the information that the GM Heritage Center used to send.  Now, it is online. Look Here for the GM Heritage Center website and click on the Camaro links.  Mikefam posted this link a few months ago.  As I recall, the AMA info is near the end of the document, and the weight figures are near the end of that.
